IDOP – International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church
Join a city-wide gathering which focuses on the persecuted church. Come and hear, learn about, and support those who work firsthand with the persecuted church. We will also spend time worshiping, and praying for our brothers and sisters in persecuted lands.
*Face masks and social distancing will be required at this event.
Guest Speaker, Tim McCalmont:
Tim McCalmont is a native of Southern California, having grown up in Hollywood and after serving as pastor to three churches over 37 years, he retired in June of 2017 after serving for 23 years as pastor of the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in Costa Mesa. He was one of three Costa Mesa pastors who met monthly to pray for our ministries and our city, a group which eventually became the TRELLIS network of churches we are part of today. Tim still lives in Costa Mesa with his wife Ruth and serves part-time with the new Shepherds Grove Presbyterian Church in Irvine.
Tim works voluntarily with the Syria-Lebanon Partnership Network syrialebanonpn.org where he is directly involved with pastors and churches in both countries. He has traveled to Syria and Lebanon four times in the last few years and has helped to raise money to build and sustain six learning centers for elementary age children who live in the Syrian refugee camps in Lebanon. The schools currently serve over 700 children. The network is involved with 35 churches, their pastors and with the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon.
Tim can be reached by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Donations can be made through the SLPN website.
