Every few months, our Education initiative team put together a meal or appreciation event to show how much we respect and admire the effort and impact of our NMUSD teachers and staff.
This November, as a tangible way of showing thanks to these men and women, our volunteer leaders all agreed EVERYONE loves pie and wants to eat it more often than just on Thanksgiving Day! Several church and community partners asked for folks to make or donate pies to give to our local schools. One older gentleman made 10 homemade pies! Pie Day was simple yet very well-received by the principals, teachers, and staff that got to take a few minutes out of their busy school day to sit down, feel cared for, and eat some pretty epic pies. There were a few extra pies and a volunteer delivered them to the school district office. The front desk staff there expressed surprise and gratitude for their thoughtfulness. Thanks to everyone who organized this, donated time or resources, and who bought or baked pies!
